Job Requirements
- Active membership in Texas Army National Guard under compatible military assignment
- Must maintain US Army Class II Flight Physical
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing
- Willingness to wear military uniform and comply with military conduct
- Ability to travel on military or commercial aircraft for temporary duty
- Must complete qualifications such as Instructor Pilot or Maintenance Test Pilot within 24 months if not already qualified
- May be subject to rotational shifts and uncommon tours of duty
- Compliance with Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment
- Direct deposit mandatory
- Successful completion of probationary period if required
Job Qualifications
- Experience operating military helicopters such as AH-64, CH-47, UH-60 series, or LUH-72 series
- In-depth knowledge of flight planning, navigation systems, and instrument flight rules
- Proficiency in training and evaluating military aviators
- Ability to conduct maintenance test flights and safety inspections
- Experience with aviation safety programs and standards
- Ability to manage and integrate aviation mission survivability plans
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Military aviation experience in active duty or reserve components
Job Duties
- Serves as a Unit Trainer/Evaluator and instructor pilot on multiple helicopter types
- Performs preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, and flight plan filing
- Trains and evaluates aviators on basic and advanced flight techniques including emergency procedures
- Conducts instrument flight qualifications as an Instrument Flight Examiner
- Provides technical supervision and training as a Standardization Instructor Pilot
- Serves as Maintenance Test Pilot Examiner and Functional Check Pilot Evaluator conducting test flights
- Acts as Aviation Safety Officer implementing safety programs and compliance
- Manages Aviation Mission Survivability programs and conducts personnel recovery training
