The Heavy Equipment CDL Driver role at EquipmentShare is a vital part of the company's operational success. This full-time position, located at the Bryan, TX rental facility, involves the safe and efficient delivery of heavy equipment and materials. The role runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM with overtime pay available after 40 hours, including on-call scheduling with additional compensation. Drivers at EquipmentShare do more than transport goods; they leverage advanced technology through the proprietary T3 platform to access real-time fleet locations, manage work orders, and receive delivery instructions, increasing job safety and efficiency.

In this role, the CDL driver must operate vehicles in compliance with state and federal transportation laws, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of equipment. They are responsible for maneuvering trucks and trailers skillfully during loading and unloading, assisting with loading operations, and maintaining accurate paperwork such as invoices and shipping bills of lading. The driver also performs routine vehicle service checks and reports any maintenance issues. This position requires a strong focus on safety, customer service, and teamwork, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.

Job Requirements

  • Must hold a commercial driver’s license (Class A CDL or equivalent chauffeur’s license based on state requirements)
  • Must pass background and drug testing in compliance with federal and state department(s) of transportation regulations
  • Must pass DOT physical as trucks driven are over 10,000 pounds
  • Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicles
  • Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to travel frequently
  • CDL drivers may be required to be clean shaven to meet customer requirements
  • Employment contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • Must hold a commercial driver’s license (Class A CDL or equivalent chauffeur’s license based on state requirements)
  • Must pass background and drug testing in compliance with federal and state department(s) of transportation regulations
  • Must pass DOT physical as trucks driven are over 10,000 pounds
  • Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicles
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain focused in a busy environment

Job Duties

  • Operates vehicle according to applicable state and federal transportation laws
  • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations
  • Maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas, following loading crew signals
  • Assists with loading or loads and unloads goods and materials using specialized equipment when needed
  • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork, delivering documentation to shipping office when route is complete
  • Performs routine vehicle service checks and reports maintenance malfunctions
  • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns
