Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year related experience in an optometry office preferred
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records system a plus
- Knowledge of government (Medi-Cal) and non-government payers for dental insurances
- Current BLS certification required
- Knowledge of modern office equipment
- Basic medical or dental terminology knowledge preferred
- HIPAA knowledge required
- Bilingual in English and Russian, Spanish, Farsi, or Dari highly preferred
- Ability to provide proof of current California driver’s license and personal auto insurance
- Proof of immunizations including Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, tuberculosis clearance, and COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date
- Subject to criminal background investigation and drug screening

- Ability to maintain records and files
- Proficient with personal computer usage
- Ability to exert physical effort in maintaining and distributing files
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by professional ethics
Job Duties
- Greet patients and provide excellent customer service
- Schedule and manage patients' appointments according to providers' schedules
- Check voicemail and answer phone calls, resolving questions or transferring as needed
- Check-in patients and complete full registration including scanning documents into electronic health records
- Enter patient data into EPIC and perform clerical tasks
- Prepare charts ensuring all documentation and insurance information is updated
- Verify patient eligibility on state and private insurance platforms
- Complete assigned tasks in inbox and workflow dashboard
- Collect payments from patients and reconcile cash transactions
- Support patient enrollment in special programs such as Every Woman Counts and Sliding Fee Discount program
