Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a construction-related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction health and safety
- Ability to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tact
- Aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoning
- Demonstrated success in teaching others health and safety concepts and requirements
- Skilled in leading others without formal reporting authority
- Proven knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 1-1, OSHA 1910 and 1926
- Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
- Must be able to obtain and maintain military base pass as required
- Must be able and willing to work on-site at project location with periodic travel home with project management approval.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or construction-related field from accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction health and safety
- Demonstrated success in teaching health and safety concepts and requirements
- Skilled in leading others without formal reporting authority
- Proven knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 1-1, OSHA 1910 and 1926
- Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
- Previous experience working on international projects preferred
- Proven track record in ground-up, multi-story construction projects
- Experience managing projects with budgets of $10 million or more preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tact
- Aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoning.
Job Duties
- Ensure the implementation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Health and Safety Plans, applicable regulations and SOPs
- Actively promote and support the health and safety programs at project sites
- Oversee the completion of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) preparation and acceptance
- Facilitate health and safety training for Company staff, subcontractors, and any parties required to participate including developing training content and delivering course information
- Author health and safety related documentation (reports, logs, records, and site specific risk mitigation plans), completing required information for daily reports and client communications in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure that all documentation is organized and stored as required
- Conduct regular inspections to assess compliance with applicable requirements
- Take appropriate actions to prevent loss and mitigate risk in accordance with Company standards and practices
- Ensure that deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner and to acceptable measures
- Represent the Company positively and professionally in client and regulatory agency interactions, serving as the primary point of contact for site health and safety
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that health and safety activities are incorporated effectively into project plans
- Log health and safety incidents in the Company Incident Database
- Facilitate incident investigations and completion of associated documentation
- Verify implementation and close-out of corrective actions
- Provide mentoring, direction, and subject matter expertise to Health and Safety Supervisors and/or junior staff
- Participate in employment interviews and make hiring recommendations
- Perform additional responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables as assigned.
