The Head Cook position at the Stockton Complex represents a vital leadership role within Legends Global's culinary team. This role entails direct responsibility for all kitchen operations during events, including food purchasing, preparation, and meticulous maintenance of quality standards. The Head Cook ensures every aspect of the kitchen’s output meets the highest standards of taste, presentation, and safety. This role involves overseeing sanitation and cleanliness protocols, training kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation, and plate presentation to ensure consistency and excellence.

In managing the event-day kitchen operation, the Head Cook coordinates food production schedules to fulfill each Banquet Event Order precisely. This requires a blend of culinary expertise and organizational skills to supervise temporary kitchen labor effectively and manage the operational workflow. Additionally, the role demands hands-on involvement in recipe preparation, maintaining the functionality and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, and designing appealing buffet food presentations that enhance guest experience. The Head Cook works closely with the Kitchen Manager to supervise kitchen staff and uphold a safe and efficient working environment.

This position is hourly, with competitive compensation set at $20.00 per hour, reflecting the demanding and skilled nature of the work. Working in this fast-paced environment demands flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work during daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to meet event needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • one year experience in a banquet facility preparing meals for large events
  • one year experience in culinary
  • physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, lifting, stooping, and walking
  • must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • food handler's permit or ability to obtain one upon hire

  • attend all Legends Global alcohol and policy training classes

Job Duties

  • Manage the event day operation of the kitchen
  • coordinate food production and ensure the highest level of food quality, taste and presentation
  • supervise temporary labor
  • fulfill the service per each Banquet Event Order (BEO)
  • prepare recipes as directed
  • maintain all kitchen equipment cleanliness and annual maintenance
  • design buffet food presentations
  • maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • other duties as assigned
