The role of Head Chef at HeartnBelly is an exciting leadership position designed for a passionate, creative, and detail-oriented culinary professional. The Head Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef/Owner and Operations Manager to shape the future of HeartnBelly’s food offerings and overall customer experience. With a focus on developing bold, crave-worthy menus, overseeing kitchen workflows, and maintaining stringent quality and safety standards, the Head Chef will be instrumental in positioning HeartnBelly as a leader in the fast-casual food scene.

Ideal candidates will bring at least eight years of experience in professional kitchens, including a minimum of three years in leadership roles within high-volume, production, or large-scale catering kitchens. They must have expertise in a broad range of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment, coupled with a passion for menu development driven by culinary science and customer needs. The Head Chef must also demonstrate strong operational skills, including food costing, inventory control, and process optimization, as well as superior leadership qualities to mentor and inspire their team. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent culinary training
  • At least eight years of professional kitchen experience
  • Minimum three years in leadership roles
  • Experience in high-volume kitchens, production kitchens, or catering
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute bold, crave-worthy menus that delight customers and align with HeartnBelly's mission
  • Lead menu research and development, incorporating customer feedback and current food trends
  • Standardize recipes to ensure consistency across all locations
  • Oversee daily kitchen workflows and optimize food preparation processes
  • Conduct regular quality audits and promptly address any discrepancies
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve service flow and resolve operational bottlenecks
  • Mentor and train kitchen staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and growth
  • Build performance improvement plans and support team members in reaching their potential
  • Work with Kitchen Leads to develop balanced schedules and ensure team well-being
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to align culinary and operational goals
  • Work together on inventory management, cost control, and equipment maintenance
