Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Availability to work frequent nights and weekends
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with sound, lighting, and A/V equipment
  • Proficiency with computers and email
  • Ability to work on feet for long periods
  • Willingness to adhere to union policies and attendance requirements

  • Broad working knowledge of sound, lighting, and A/V equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to follow oral, written, and diagram instructions
  • Experience in live event production or venue operations

Job Duties

  • Serve as crew chief for assigned events at Van Andel Arena from load in through the event and load out
  • Be primary point of contact with clients, vendors, and building staff during events
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct all other IATSE House Heads and on-call IATSE employees
  • Complete and maintain accurate steward reports of employee hours and wages
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the primary A/V vendors utilizing the facility
  • Represent ASM safety committee
  • Provide accurate event, incident, and safety reports to Event Coordinators and Union office
  • Work with Event Coordinators, Clients, and Vendors to plan and execute events
  • Adhere to ASM attendance policies and procedures
