We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative Head Bartender / Master Mixologist to join the Press Room team at AC Hotel downtown Greenville. This role is ideal for a passionate mixologist who excels in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates keen attention to detail, and possesses strong leadership qualities. As our Head Bartender and Lead Mixologist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the beverage experience by crafting original and trendsetting cocktail menus along with seasonal offerings. Collaborating closely with the Beverage Director and culinary team, you will design unique cocktails that complement the food menu and meet high standards of creativity and quality.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations of the bar area, managing inventory and supplies, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness and organization to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Beyond operational oversight, you will be charged with mentoring and leading cocktail servers and barbacks to maintain exceptional customer service standards and smooth operation during peak business hours. Providing an unparalleled guest experience is a core aspect of this role, requiring you to engage with patrons by recommending cocktails and personalizing their drink selections, thus fostering lasting relationships and encouraging repeat visits.
This position demands a deep knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, and mixology techniques, as well as the ability to innovate with house-made syrups, infusions, and garnishes. You must also demonstrate professionalism under pressure, maintaining balance between customer satisfaction and staff management. Familiarity with state alcohol laws and responsible service practices is essential. The role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and requires physical stamina for standing long periods and handling heavy items.

Job Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a fast-paced environment
- must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a bartender, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, and bar techniques
- expertise in creating original drink recipes, including infusions, syrups, and garnishes
- exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on team collaboration
- strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- ability to maintain professionalism under pressure, managing both staff and customer expectations
- TIPS or similar alcohol training certification (preferred)
- passion for mixology, continuous learning, and providing a top-tier guest experience
Job Duties
- Assist in design and development for seasonal and signature cocktail menus that reflect creativity and high-quality ingredients
- stay current on cocktail trends, techniques, and industry innovations
- collaborate with the Beverage Director and kitchen team for perfect food and beverage pairings
- maintain and regularly update a comprehensive list of house-made syrups, infusions, and garnishes
- lead, train, and mentor cocktail server and barback to uphold excellent customer service standards
- delegate tasks to ensure the bar operates smoothly during peak times
- provide feedback and maintain a positive, motivating environment
- ensure consistency in drink quality, presentation, and taste, adhering to high standards
- assist in inventory management, ordering, and stock rotation to maintain proper bar supplies
- monitor cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- provide an exceptional guest experience by interacting with patrons, recommending cocktails, and personalizing their drink choices
- handle customer feedback, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and courtesy
- build lasting customer relationships and create a welcoming environment that keeps patrons coming back
- adhere to state laws regarding alcohol consumption by checking customer identification, serving and selling alcohol responsibly
- responsible for keeping the bar well stocked and fully supplied with alcohol, and for filling out inventory forms in order to replace items as needed
- coordinate with other departments, such as the kitchen or management, to ensure smooth operations
