Job Requirements

  • Food Handlers card required
  • Must be able to pass mandatory screening including background and credit check and drug test
  • Must be 21 years plus of age
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment team member permit badge or license
  • Able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and co-workers
  • Available to work any shift including weekends holidays and overtime
  • Able to converse in English
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to work within a team environment
  • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass mandatory drug test criminal background and credit check

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts education and training preferred
  • Two to three years previous experience in similar field of cuisine
  • Thorough understanding of sushi techniques including rice preparation fish slicing and working with seaweed nori
  • Combination of education and experience also acceptable
  • Ability to engage effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve hand rolls made with premium ingredients focusing on simplicity freshness flavor while making sure the nori stays crispy
  • Engage with guests at the sushi bar explaining the menu taking orders and providing a friendly and educational experience while preparing hand rolls in front of them
  • Ensure consistency in the preparation and presentation of each hand roll adhering to established restaurant standards
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the hand roll bar and workspace at all times including tools and utensils
  • Monitor the freshness and quality of fish and other ingredients ensuring all products meet high standards of quality and safety
  • Work efficiently to serve customers in a timely manner especially during peak hours without sacrificing quality
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff and other chefs to ensure smooth operations and quick delivery of orders
  • Adhere to all food safety hygiene and sanitation protocols in compliance with local health regulations
  • Assist in restocking and maintaining ingredient inventory to ensure seamless service throughout shifts
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new hand roll combinations and seasonal specials
  • Perform other duties as assigned
