Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent clerical experience
  • Six months of clerical, customer service or equivalent experience
  • Completion of clerical or customer training program may be utilized in lieu of experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff
  • Knowledge of hospital guest services policies and procedures
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality following HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Provides customer service and receptionist support, answering information telephone calls, greeting visitors and providing information and assistance
  • Responds to inquiries and communicates information in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Provides room numbers to callers and visitors
  • Generates and provides badges to visitors and maintains visitor logs
  • Interacts and communicates with hospital staff, patients, visitors and external representatives in a customer responsiveness and courteous manner
  • Makes routine and emergency announcements using intercom and radio paging system
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel
  • Transports and distributes records, documents and materials to other information desk and/or areas
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient, family, department and hospital information
  • Monitors lobby and waiting room areas maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment
  • Performs data entry and typing tasks as required
  • Provides coverage for relief and absences as required
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays to provide continuous coverage
