Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • college coursework in related field helpful
  • experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • computer experience required
  • customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome all guests approaching the front desk
  • follow Forbes Five Star service standards including using guest names, showing genuine interest, demonstrating anticipatory service, closing interactions appropriately, and maintaining an engaging expression
  • maintain proper operation of computer and telephone console meeting all hotel standards
  • answer guest inquiries about hotel services, facilities, and hours of operation in a timely manner
  • ensure logging and delivery of packages, mail and messages to guests and meeting rooms
  • review front office log and trace file daily
  • provide information to guests regarding restaurants, transportation, entertainment, and other local amenities
  • adhere to all cash handling and credit policies in accordance with Highgate standards and PCI compliance
  • maintain awareness of all room rates, packages, special promotions, in-house groups, closed-out and restricted dates
  • obtain necessary information when taking room reservations following the rate-quoting scenario
  • apply knowledge of hospitality terminology and luxury language as per Forbes standards
  • know emergency procedures and assist as needed
  • handle check-ins and checkouts efficiently and courteously
  • maintain proper radio etiquette when communicating with other hotel employees
  • operate all relevant aspects of the front desk computer system
  • complete all tasks and duties on shift checklist in a timely manner
  • perform credit checks, room rate verifications, and housekeeping reports
  • balance and prepare paperwork for shift closing
  • promote room upselling programs and hotel promotions
  • maintain a clean work area
  • assist guests with safe deposit boxes
  • complete daily shift checklist
