Job Description

Nashville Rescue Mission is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction in Nashville, Tennessee. Committed to the mission of sharing the love of Jesus Christ through compassionate care, education, and life-changing programs, Nashville Rescue Mission has become a pivotal force in providing hope, shelter, and support to those in need. The organization operates various facilities, including shelters for men, women, and children, offering meals, clothing, counseling, and comprehensive recovery services designed to restore dignity and foster self-sufficiency.

Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking Guest Security / Support Specialists to join their Men’s Guest Services team. This role is crucial in maintaining the safety, security, and overall well-being of the guests and staff within the Mission's facilities. The position is available on different shifts covering both mornings and evenings, ensuring comprehensive coverage to protect and serve the community around the clock. This is a full-time opportunity that calls for individuals who are alert, calm, confident, and deeply committed to serving others in a challenging environment.

As a Guest Security / Support Specialist, you will play an integral role in upholding a secure and welcoming environment at the Mission. Your duties include screening guests with walk-through metal detectors, conducting pat-downs, monitoring security cameras, and maintaining order among guests and visitors. You will be tasked with responding promptly to any signs of unusual or suspicious activity, coordinating with first responders when necessary, and supporting front desk operations such as handling guest luggage and parking permits. The role requires walking or driving assigned zones both inside and around the perimeter of the Mission's property to ensure continuous surveillance and protection.

The ideal candidate is someone who remains calm under pressure and can de-escalate conflicts without resorting to anger or aggression. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary as you will be in frequent contact with guests, volunteers, and staff. Additionally, the position demands a proactive attitude—someone who takes initiative, is willing to engage in hands-on tasks, and embraces a team-oriented approach to fulfilling the Mission’s objectives.

Faith is a central component of this role. The Guest Security / Support Specialist is expected to share and embody the Christian faith, acting as a model of Christian character and communicating the Gospel through both words and actions. This position is not only about security but also about providing spiritual encouragement and hope to those served by Nashville Rescue Mission.

The role demands regular attendance and punctuality, physical stamina — with the ability to move up to 25 pounds and stay active throughout the shift — and a responsible, professional demeanor at all times. Appearance standards require wearing clean jeans or khakis paired with Mission shirts and security vests, maintaining a professional and approachable presence.

Nashville Rescue Mission emphasizes ongoing training and development, providing necessary certifications such as Crisis Prevention, First Aid, CPR, and Narcan administration. This support ensures that team members are equipped to handle emergencies effectively and compassionately, enhancing the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the Mission.

Joining Nashville Rescue Mission means becoming part of a compassionate, mission-driven community that strives to transform lives through faith, service, and security. If you are a dedicated, vigilant, and faith-filled individual with a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of men in crisis, this position offers a unique and fulfilling opportunity to impact real change within the Nashville community.
