The role of a Guest Advocate at Target is pivotal in shaping a positive guest experience. Guest Advocates act as ambassadors for the brand, focusing on welcoming guests, exceeding service expectations, and driving loyalty through engagement and service excellence. They are knowledgeable about both in-store and digital services, ensuring guests have a seamless shopping journey whether online or in person. The position is dynamic, involving a mix of customer interaction, problem solving, and operational tasks such as checklane support, gift registry assistance, pick-up and drive-up services, and maintaining overall store cleanliness.

Guest Advocates not only greet and assist guests but also educate them about Target’s offerings, loyalty programs, and current promotions, encouraging increased guest engagement and satisfaction. They are empowered to address various guest needs efficiently, from handling transactions and returns to guiding guests through the features of the Target App. This role develops essential retail skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and multitasking in a fast-paced and physically active environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively including using positive language
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Attention to detail while prioritizing tasks
  • Willing to educate guests and engage around products and services
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle checkout operations and cash accurately
  • Ability to scan, handle and move merchandise safely including lifting up to 44 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures and conditions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks
  • Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs
  • Make the guest aware of current promos, store activities and events
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store to solve guest issues and improve their experience
  • Thank guests and let them know we are happy they chose to shop at Target
  • Know and speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs and assist with application or sign-up as needed
  • Scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately and in compliance with food safety standards and company best practices
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining guest service and accuracy
  • Understand and show guests how to use the features and offerings within the Target App including Wallet
  • Be familiar with Order Pick-Up, Drive Up and online ordering, and direct guests to enroll, activate and use these features
  • Attempt every return and follow register prompts while partnering with leaders as needed
  • Maintain a clean, clutter free work area
  • Stock supplies during store hours while being available for guests
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
  • Work safely at all times and report hazards
  • Support guest services such as order pick up and Drive-up orders and maintain a compliance culture
  • Perform other duties based on business needs
