Job Description
Target Corporation is a renowned American retail giant known for its commitment to enhancing the shopping experience for families everywhere. As a leading department store chain, Target operates thousands of locations across the United States, providing a wide range of products from apparel to groceries, household goods, electronics, and more. Embracing a culture centered around inclusivity, community service, and innovation, Target strives to combine quality, value, and convenience to meet the diverse needs of its guests. Working at Target means joining a vibrant and supportive environment where team members play a key role in delivering exceptional service and contributing to the company’s vision of making everyday life joyful for all families.
The Small Format Team Member role is a vital position within Target’s smaller store formats, designed to offer a consistent and personalized shopping experience. These stores, often located in urban and densely populated areas, require a team that is adept in multiple functions including customer service, stocking, merchandising, pricing accuracy, and store operations. Team members in this role are cross-trained to perform all related tasks efficiently, ensuring that the sales floor is not only fully stocked but also engaging and easy to navigate for shoppers.
This position starts with a competitive hourly wage beginning at $18.50 USD, with a pay range extending up to $27.75 USD, reflecting various experience levels and shift differentials. The role is hourly and offers flexible scheduling that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak times to meet business needs.
As a Small Format Team Member, your day will be dynamic and multifaceted. You will create a welcoming environment by greeting guests warmly and assisting them with any questions or needs they may have. Your responsibilities will encompass tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining price tags and promotional signage, conducting inventory audits, and helping operate powered equipment if certified. You will also ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the store, including restrooms and exterior areas. Accuracy, efficiency, and a guest-first mindset are essential as you balance completing operational tasks with delivering outstanding customer service.
Beyond the immediate duties, this role presents an excellent opportunity for personal growth and skill development. Team members gain valuable insight into retail business fundamentals such as sales trends, inventory management, pricing strategies, and customer engagement. The job offers a supportive training program that equips new hires with the knowledge and tools to excel, regardless of prior experience. Moreover, Target values ethical conduct, safety, and compliance with all policies, ensuring a respectful and secure workplace.
If you thrive in an active, hands-on environment and enjoy working collaboratively to solve challenges, this position is an ideal fit. Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude toward guest service are critical qualities. Target also seeks individuals who are comfortable with physical tasks like lifting, climbing ladders, and maintaining product displays, and who can adapt to varying environmental conditions within the store. Ultimately, joining Target as a Small Format Team Member means becoming part of a team dedicated to making a positive impact on guests’ daily lives and growing your career within a nationally respected retail organization.
