Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- able to lift items up to 50 pounds
- able to push or pull a baggage cart and operate baggage equipment such as tow tractors
- proficient in Amtrak ticket processing and tariffs
- qualified in using Arrow, RailRes/Stars, and QuikTrak systems
- familiar with Passenger Information Display System
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- positive and good-natured attitude
- able to interact effectively with customers and public address system
- able to use Amtrak computer systems
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- proficiency in baggage and express operations with the ability to quote rates and information accurately
- skill in processing all types of Amtrak tickets and understanding tariffs for pricing
- familiarity with Arrow, RailRes/Stars, QuikTrak, and Passenger Information Display System operations
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- positive and professional attitude
- experience in customer service or related fields preferred but not mandatory
Job Duties
- Greet and service passengers to ensure their comfort and positive experience
- assist customers with special needs, boarding processes, and luggage handling
- prepare ticket reports, safeguard company funds, and complete related administrative tasks
- maintain and perform preventive maintenance on ticket printers and Quik-Trak machines
- provide passengers with verbal and printed information about schedules, fares, routing, city highlights, tours, and intermodal transportation options
- ensure timely boarding of passenger trains, verifying proper ticketing and compliance with travel document and baggage requirements
- perform janitorial duties as required
- handle checked baggage, package express, and company materials both in the station and on/off trains
- serve as a guaranteed on-call position (GEB) to cover planned and unplanned employee absences
