Job Description

Gaylord Hotels, a part of Marriott International, is a renowned hospitality brand known for delivering extraordinary meeting and experience environments. Located at 1000 H St, Chula Vista, California, Gaylord Hotels offers a dynamic workplace where associates, called STARs, are valued for their creativity, entrepreneurship, and dedication to providing thoughtful and heartfelt service. As part of Marriott International, Gaylord Hotels benefits from the global reach and resources of one of the world's leading hotel companies, which emphasizes inclusivity, respect for diversity, and equal opportunity employment. The company fosters a culture that celebrates the unique backgrounds and experiences of its associates, offering endless career opportunities and professional growth beyond those typically found in the traditional hotel industry.

The open position is a full-time, non-management role based in Chula Vista, California, focused on finance and accounting within the hospitality sector. The position offers a competitive pay rate of $27.25 per hour and requires day shifts with preferred weekend availability. This role involves assisting hotel group guests to ensure successful events by acting as the main housing and billing contact from pre-arrival through the departure phase. The job includes processing reservation requests, changes, and cancellations through various communication channels such as phone, fax, and mail. The associate will work closely with guests to understand and fulfill their reservation needs, verify room availabilities and rates, and explain relevant policies regarding guarantees, special rates, and cancellations.

Moreover, the role emphasizes the preparation and management of proper billing accounts including shared, room, tax, incidentals, tax-exempt, and group billing arrangements, adhering strictly to company accounting standards. The successful candidate will prepare, review, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements following established procedures while maintaining excellent customer service standards for internal and external clients. Collaboration with multiple departments and external entities is a key aspect of the job to facilitate smooth group events from arrival to final billing. Additionally, the position requires adherence to all company safety, security, and operational policies, ensuring professional appearance and conduct while safeguarding confidential and proprietary information. Employees are expected to handle guest interactions professionally, anticipate their needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and communicate effectively with team members and guests alike.

This role is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and less than one year of related work experience. While supervisory experience is not required, candidates must demonstrate strong teamwork skills and a commitment to quality assurance standards. Physical requirements include the ability to move light objects up to 10 pounds safely. All associates are expected to uphold Marriott's commitment to non-discrimination and equal employment opportunity, with a welcoming workplace environment for all, including those with criminal histories as permitted by law. Gaylord Hotels invites talented individuals to join a vibrant and inclusive global team where they can do their best work, find purpose, feel belonging, and become the best version of themselves.
