Job Description
Greystar is a leading, fully integrated global real estate platform known for its expertise in property management, investment management, development, and construction services specifically tailored to institutional-quality rental housing. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar operates on a global scale with assets valued at over $300 billion in more than 265 markets worldwide. With offices spanning North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region, Greystar stands as the largest operator of apartments in the United States, managing over one million units and beds globally. Since its founding in 1993 by Bob Faith, the company has been committed to delivering world-class service in the rental residential real estate industry.
The Maintenance Technician role at Greystar plays a vital part in ensuring the community environment remains well-maintained and visually appealing. This entry-level position, located at a stabilized property with 699 units, is scheduled Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, with weekend availability required. The role involves daily inspections of the community grounds to remove litter, debris, and pet droppings, maintaining all common areas and amenities to the highest standards. Candidates will assist service team members in routine maintenance tasks, including trash removal, minor repairs, and support in preparing vacant apartments for new residents. Attention to safety and compliance with Greystar’s policies and procedures is integral to this role. The company fosters a culture of respect and customer service, ensuring residents’ queries and concerns are addressed promptly and courteously.
Compensation for this position ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour in Glendale, CA, with additional bonus opportunities based on individual and company performance. The role comes with a 20 percent housing discount at Greystar-managed communities subject to availability. Physical demands of this position require ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, climbing ladders, carrying objects, and working outdoors in varied weather conditions. This role sometimes requires flexible work hours including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as occasional travel to support other properties.
Greystar offers a robust benefits package for full-time employees, including competitive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage with low cost to employees, paid time off starting with 15 vacation days, four personal days, 10 sick days, 11 paid holidays, and additional benefits such as a 6-week paid sabbatical after 10 years of service. A 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave, fertility benefits, employee assistance programs, and other voluntary insurance options contribute to the comprehensive employee support system. Greystar embraces diversity and inclusion in its hiring practices and maintains a secure and transparent recruitment process, warning candidates against fraudulent communications.
