Job Description

Lewis Group of Companies is one of the nation's largest privately held real estate development firms, boasting over 70 years of extensive experience in the industry. The company is dedicated to creating thriving communities that not only provide exceptional living experiences for residents but also contribute positively to the broader society. With a strong commitment to honesty, long-term relationships, and high-quality standards, Lewis Group of Companies has established itself as a trusted name in real estate development and property management. Their focus is on creating sustainable, well-maintained communities that foster a sense of belonging and pride among residents while ensuring that employees work in supportive and growth-oriented environments.

The Sycamores, located in Vacaville, CA, is one of the communities managed by Lewis Group of Companies. They are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Groundskeeper/Porter to join their team. This role is pivotal in maintaining the beauty, cleanliness, and safety of the community grounds. The Groundskeeper will be responsible for upkeep tasks that contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. This role offers a solid hourly wage of $21.50 and is part-time with scheduled days off on Friday and Saturday, providing a good work-life balance. The position requires physical labor under various weather conditions, emphasizing the importance of resilience and dedication.

As a Groundskeeper at The Sycamores, the individual will take on various responsibilities including maintaining community grounds such as walkways, parking lots, and common areas. This includes sweeping, blowing, pressure washing, and trash removal to ensure all areas remain clean and presentable. Additionally, the role involves cleaning outdoor furniture, fixtures, and assigned maintenance areas, as well as identifying and reporting any safety issues or maintenance needs to the maintenance team promptly. Beyond this, the Groundskeeper will provide courteous and efficient customer service to residents and guests, embodying the company’s value of fostering long-term relationships and community spirit.

Lewis Group of Companies values growth and professional development, providing Groundskeepers with access to free maintenance training classes and clear career progression opportunities, including paths to become a Maintenance Technician or Night Service Manager. The company supports merit-based raises and bonuses, reinforcing its commitment to recognize and reward hard work and dedication.

This position is ideal for candidates who are reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. While prior groundskeeping or janitorial experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this a welcome opportunity for new entrants into the field. Candidates must be able to work outdoors comfortably and handle physical tasks consistently and safely. A valid driver’s license is preferred, and all candidates must pass a background check and drug screening in adherence to company policies. The role demands weekend availability, specifically requiring time off on Fridays and Saturdays, which accommodates personal scheduling needs while ensuring ample coverage for the community.

Joining Lewis means becoming part of a company that values its employees and invests in their career success. The company promotes an inclusive workplace culture where diversity is celebrated and all employees are encouraged to contribute fully to the team. As an equal opportunity employer, Lewis Management Corp. is dedicated to providing a respectful and supportive environment, fostering employee well-being and growth.

With competitive pay, comprehensive benefits like medical, dental, and vision insurance with multiple plan options, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, holidays, sick leave, and apartment rental discounts, Lewis Group of Companies offers a fulfilling and rewarding work experience. The Groundskeeper role is not just a job but a stepping stone to a promising career in property maintenance and community building, backed by a company that truly cares for both its clientele and its employees.
