Job Requirements
- Physical stamina and strength to lift, carry, push, pull items weighing up to 70 pounds regularly
- Ability to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs
- Capability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently
- Ability to work in cramped or elevated spaces
- Alertness to moving vehicles and aircraft
- Proficiency in using radio equipment for communication
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and noisy environments
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada as applicable
- Completion of ramp and SIDA training for airport security access
- Ability to obtain a Customs Seal if required
- Preferred one or more years of relevant experience
Job Duties
- Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate
- Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner
- Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction
- Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies
- Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with wing walkers to ensure safety
- Operate and/or drive motorized equipment like belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers
- Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required
- Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other passenger property
- Complete paperwork related to work assignments and enter data into company systems
- Follow company procedures to operate safely and responsibly
- Complete all required training
- Be punctual, prepared, and safe
- Work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
