This immediate opening is for a part-time Grill Cook position located in Eaton at 2900 Doc Bennett Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm, ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment. The hourly pay ranges from $15.50 to $16.00, with the added benefit of an internal employee referral bonus. The role of Grill Cook at Canteen involves food preparation and customer service centered around the grill station, adhering to all federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service. The candidate will be responsible for taking customer orders, preparing items requiring short preparation, managing steam table orders, and serving customers across multiple stations.
Responsibilities also include maintaining food quality, appearance, and temperature, using recipes and production standards to ensure consistency, and following stringent kitchen safety and sanitation practices. The position requires experience with flat top grill cooking, baking, and frying, alongside a solid understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation regulations. The Grill Cook must maintain cleanliness and safety in all work areas, equipment, and utensils, and responsibly handle food storage according to standard wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures.
As part of the service, the Grill Cook will resolve customer concerns and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and management. Additionally, this position includes participation in safety meetings and training to continually upgrade skills and compliance. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience with flat top grill, baking and frying required
- knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation required
- ability to work Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm
- ability to perform physical tasks involving standing and carrying food pans
- reliable and punctual
- willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- ability to follow federal, state and corporate food safety regulations
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation
- complete orders from steam tables and serve customers at multiple stations
- serve customers efficiently and friendly following established steps of service
- ensure food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
- taste all prepared food items
- use established ticket-collection procedures during service
- keep records from area worked during service periods
- use approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and portion control
- carry pans, kettles and trays of food following safety standards
- store foods using standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures
- clean, sanitize and maintain all assigned work areas, equipment and utensils
