Located at Bethune-Cookman University, Sodexo is seeking a part-time Grill Cook to join their food service team. The work schedule involves varying shifts, with a preference for open availability, covering days and hours suited to the operational needs of the campus dining services. Compensation for this role ranges between $16 and $17 per hour, offering competitive pay within the food service industry.
As a Grill Cook, the successful candidate will be instrumental in preparing and cooking nutritious and appealing hot and cold food items during different meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. This role requires a dedicated team player who can manage food preparation efficiently while maintaining a commitment to reducing food waste. The Grill Cook will operate kitchen equipment such as grills and fryers, prepare recipes accurately by measuring and mixing ingredients, and ensure that all food items are presented in an appetizing manner.
The position demands punctuality, regular attendance, and adherence to health and safety standards to create a safe work environment for all staff members. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0 to 2 years of related experience preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Open availability preferred
- Team-oriented and adaptable
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 0 to 2 years of related experience in food preparation or cooking
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable and punctual with a good attendance record
- Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and food handling procedures
Job Duties
- Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, grill, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
- Read and measure/mix ingredients according to recipe(s)
- Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station, fryer, and other kitchen equipment
- Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Follow health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to reduce food waste
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
