Job Description
McMenamins is renowned for its unique collection of historic hotels, breweries, music venues, and restaurants located primarily in the Pacific Northwest. A company deeply rooted in community and culture, McMenamins offers a distinctive blend of hospitality and entertainment that emphasizes local art, music, and cuisine. Their venues, like the Grand Lodge Concerts in the Grove, provide a vibrant setting where guests can enjoy live music in an engaging atmosphere with exceptional food and beverage offerings. McMenamins' commitment to quality and memorable experiences has built a loyal following and a respected brand.
The Concert Cook - Seasonal role at McMenamins involves delivering high-quality food products during concert events held at the Grand Lodge. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments where multitasking, mental agility, and physical stamina are essential. Concert Cooks are entrusted with preparing and presenting a diverse menu, including salads, hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas, appetizers, and sauté and grill dishes. The role requires meticulous organization and cleanliness of work areas to maintain safety and food quality standards.
As a Concert Cook, team members are expected to manage all cooking tasks from the opening to closing hours of events, ensuring guests receive timely and delicious meals. This job demands a strong sense of teamwork as well as the ability to work independently when required. Working outdoors in potentially dim lighting conditions, handling high-volume orders, and maintaining calm under pressure are key aspects of the job. The position is hourly and non-exempt, emphasizing a seasonal commitment largely aligned with concert schedules.
Beyond the physical demands, McMenamins emphasizes a positive work environment that values diversity and inclusivity. Concert Cooks are ambassadors of excellent customer service, expected to interact courteously and professionally with guests, colleagues, and management. Safety is paramount; adhering to safe food handling and workplace practices is critical. Employees are encouraged to stay informed about company events, history, and product knowledge, enriching the guest experience and contributing to team success.
This role suits individuals who enjoy an active workday, appreciate the energy of live events, and have a passion for culinary arts within a unique hospitality setting. It requires physical strength to lift heavy items and manage repetitive movements as well as mental focus to handle complex tasks promptly. McMenamins provides a creative and supportive atmosphere where team members play a crucial part in delivering memorable concert experiences through food service. Individuals ready to contribute with enthusiasm and professionalism will find this role rewarding and impactful.
