In this role, the Gourmet Chef actively supports a culture of safety that prioritizes food safety, team member welfare, and customer safety. They are expected to continuously learn about different foods and share this knowledge throughout the organization, helping to increase both profitability and promote future growth for Giant Eagle. Responsibilities include managing food inventories, minimizing waste, adhering to budget guidelines, and ensuring that all recipes and merchandising standards are strictly followed. The Gourmet Chef collaborates closely with kitchen and department managers and participates in catering and food production at various levels.

This position also demands maintaining a clean and safe work environment compliant with OSHA standards and other food safety regulations. Participation in ongoing training sessions, quarterly reviews, and embracing diversity and inclusion within the workplace are key facets of the role. A Serv-Safe certification is considered an advantage, and physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Overall, the Gourmet Chef at Giant Eagle is a dynamic role that combines culinary expertise with leadership in food safety, education, and customer engagement. It is well suited for individuals who are detail-oriented, passionate about food, and eager to contribute to a vibrant, community-focused company.
