Job Description
Silver Diner Development LLC is a leading company in the casual dining restaurant segment, known for its commitment to quality, community, and innovation. Recognized as one of the Washington Post's 'Most Diverse Places to Work' and named among Full Service Restaurant Magazine's '20 Full Service Restaurants to Watch,' Silver Diner prides itself on fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and dynamic workplace. Additionally, the company earned the 2020 TDn2K Best Practices Award in the Family Dining Category, reflecting its dedication to excellence in both operations and employee satisfaction. Silver Diner offers an award-winning Fresh & Local Menu, featuring surprising flexitarian and healthy options that bridge the gap between traditional tablecloth restaurants and fast food establishments. Their partnership with over 15 local farms underscores a strong commitment to sourcing organic and sustainable ingredients, ensuring guests receive high-quality meals made with care and authenticity.
At Silver Diner, the culture centers around people – their most precious resource. The company champions internal growth and career development, with more than 60% of managers and 100% of General Managers and Area Directors promoted from within. This reflects Silver Diner's dedication to providing more than just a job; it offers a promising career path for the future. The work environment is warm, friendly, and fast-paced, where employees are empowered to achieve their personal best while contributing to a team-oriented atmosphere.
The role being offered is for a GOTO, which serves as the pivotal link between the front of the house and the kitchen team. The GOTO plays a critical role in completing orders by finishing food with garnishes and sauces and assembling dishes to ensure they meet the company's high standards and guests' expectations. This position is ideal for energetic, friendly individuals who have a passion for hospitality and are eager to grow a career in the culinary arts. It involves learning about flavor profiles, food trends from around the world, and how to collaborate seamlessly with both cooks and servers to create an exceptional dining experience.
Candidates for the GOTO position should be prepared to work weekends and holidays, reflecting the high demand and lively nature of the restaurant. While prior restaurant experience is preferred, it is not required, as Silver Diner places a strong emphasis on training and promoting from within. The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is essential, and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are considered a plus.
Silver Diner offers competitive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan, and an Employee Assistance Program that support employees' well-being beyond work. Additional perks include meal discounts, gym membership discounts, work shoe discounts, and more. This role not only offers exciting opportunities for professional growth—such as becoming a trainer, supervisor, or manager—but also places employees at the heart of one of America's busiest and most respected restaurants in the casual dining sector.
