Job Requirements

  • Education level is not explicitly required but relevant work experience is essential
  • Relevant experience managing municipal golf courses or similar recreational operations
  • Proven experience in business management principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff
  • Knowledge of USGA rules and local regulations related to golf course operations

  • Ability to work primarily onsite with occasional travel within the city
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Experience applying the principles and practices of enterprise business management as it relates to municipally owned golf courses
  • Knowledge and experience using administrative principles and methods, including goal setting, program development and implementation, golf facility development, and employee supervision/direction
  • Experience ensuring the needs of a public golfing community and that operations meet the needs of diverse interests
  • Experience selecting, motivating, directing, and coordinating the work, training, and development of regular, seasonal, and contract employees at multiple golfing venues
  • Experience applying USGA rules of golf and applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations regarding operations, construction, and maintenance of publicly owned golf courses

Job Duties

  • Oversee the management, programming, and maintenance coordination of five municipal golf courses
  • Lead a team of supervisors and staff across multiple sites, fostering a culture of high performance, safety, and inclusivity
  • Manage vendor and leaseholder relationships, including pro shops, instructors, and food/beverage providers
  • Develop and manage operating budgets, contracts, and strategic plans for golf operations
  • Monitor course utilization, revenue trends, and maintenance needs to drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with bureaus, stakeholders, and community groups to expand access and promote equity in golf
  • Represent the Golf Program in public meetings and internal planning processes
