Job Description

Portland Golf Club, a prestigious and member-focused golf club, is renowned for providing an exceptional golfing experience combined with top-tier hospitality services. As a well-established club, Portland Golf Club strives to maintain an inviting atmosphere that emphasizes quality, service, and community. The club features a variety of dining options, including The Wedge, an on-course café that offers members and guests a convenient spot to relax and enjoy delicious food and beverages during their rounds of golf. The Wedge team is integral to ensuring that guests enjoy a memorable experience, featuring attentive service and excellent product offerings.

This position is a part-time opportunity ideal for individuals seeking flexible scheduling on weekends, mornings, and daytime hours. The role reports to the Food & Beverage Service Manager, Event Coordinator, and Clubhouse Manager, ensuring close communication with multiple leadership positions.

The Wedge Server & Beverage Cart Attendant will be a friendly, enthusiastic team member responsible for greeting and serving club members and guests with excellence. This role extends beyond the café as attendants will also have the opportunity to work part-time on the beverage cart, providing mobile food and beverage services throughout the golf course. This dual responsibility allows employees to engage with members in a dynamic environment and build lasting relationships.

Key tasks include preparing and serving food and beverages, including basic espresso drinks, supporting beverage service including bartending duties when necessary, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the café and its associated areas, such as patio and kitchen spaces. Employees are also accountable for stocking products and ensuring service areas are well supplied to maintain smooth operations, as well as coordinating daily food orders based on business levels and club events. Furthermore, organizing and maintaining the dry storage system is a crucial component to help ensure efficiency and reduce waste.

The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent attention to detail, with superior time-management skills to handle multitasking and prioritizing tasks during busy shifts. A service-first attitude is essential, as is the enthusiasm to work collaboratively within a close-knit team. The role requires current food handler certifications and OLCC permits upon hiring and candidates must be at least 21 years of age to comply with liquor service regulations.

Physical demands reflect the dynamic and active nature of the job. The employee will be engaged in standing and walking for extended periods, lifting objects up to 30 pounds, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and utilizing manual dexterity frequently. Portland Golf Club commits to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Overall, this position offers an excellent gateway into hospitality within a renowned golf club setting, promising flexible scheduling and opportunities for growth and skill development within food and beverage services. Candidates drawn to active work environments and passionate about delivering high-quality service in a social and prestigious setting will find this a rewarding role.
