The role of a Global Cook at Aramark is both dynamic and specialized, requiring an experienced culinary professional with a strong background in Indian cuisine. This position involves preparing and cooking a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes that highlight the diverse cultures and regional flavors of India. The Global Cook must adhere to standard recipes, production guidelines, and strict food safety protocols to ensure quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The position oversees handling kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers, requiring the ability to safely and efficiently operate these tools.
In addition to food preparation, the Global Cook plays a supervisory role by scheduling and assigning daily work activities to other staff members while ensuring that tasks are completed to the highest standard. Training and guiding kitchen staff on cooking methods, food safety, sanitation procedures, and operational guidelines are essential duties to maintain excellence in kitchen operations. This role demands a proactive, hands-on approach, working independently while upholding Aramark’s standards for safety, security, and customer service.
This full-time, weekday position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $28.00 and does not require weekend work, providing a balanced work-life schedule for employees. Job Requirements
- Experience in Indian cooking with a wide variety of regional cuisines that reflect the diverse cultures of India required
- Food safety certification required
- Ability to work Monday through Friday with no weekends
- Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
- Willingness to wear uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to safely handle knives and kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety practices
Job Qualifications
- Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred
- Experience as a cook or related role required
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision required
- Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Food safety certification required
- Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Schedules and assigns daily work activities to staff and supervises the completion of tasks
- Trains and guides staff on job duties, standard food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods, etc
- Cooks and prepares food following production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Safely uses all food utensils including knives
- Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meats, vegetables, and other foods
- Arranges, garnishes, and portions food following established guidelines
- Properly stores food by following food safety policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintains excellent customer service with a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Follows Aramark safety policies and procedures including food safety and sanitation
- Ensures security of company assets
- Produces and maintains work schedules and may prepare production records
