Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of one year retail cashiering experience required

Job Duties

Operates the gift shop during evenings and weekends to assure timely opening and closing and adheres to gift shop policies and procedures to assure effective operations
Assures accurate cashiering and safety and security of merchandise and assists customers with merchandise and problem resolution
Proactively communicates with gift shop manager or assistant manager regarding issues with customers or operational problems and trains and supervises evening and weekend volunteers
Assists in maintaining the stock room, pricing merchandise, and restocking merchandise and assists in maintaining displays and general order and appearance of merchandise to encourage sales
Accurately and efficiently receives and handles telephone orders and assures timely delivery of telephone orders
Represents Children’s Hospital to the community and promotes the hospital's mission and initiatives and represents the department and gift shop throughout the hospital, promoting effective and appropriate volunteer service which make efficient and effective use of volunteer skills and time
Develops and cultivates positive relationships with customers and supports strategies to expand the gift shop's service excellence and service to patients, families, visitors and staff
