The General Nutrition Worker reports directly to the Child Nutrition Manager and indirectly to the Operations Manager, Specialist, and Child Nutrition Supervisor. The role requires active participation in various aspects of food preparation, serving, kitchen maintenance, and customer service, all while upholding the district’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plan and food safety standards. Primary responsibilities include setting up serving lines, operating kitchen equipment and cash registers, cleaning kitchen and dining areas, and assisting wherever necessary to ensure smooth meal service operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen work helpful
- Must be free from the use of drugs and alcohol
- Must be able to stand continuously and work for minimum of 4 hours per workday
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions
- Must report to work on time every workday
- Must perform all duties as assigned during scheduled workdays

Job Duties
- Work in area assigned by Child Nutrition Manager
- Be responsible for proper use, operation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, heating and cooling units, cash register and other equipment
- Accept alternating assignments on the serving line, dish room, kitchen prep and cash register
- Keep work, service areas, equipment clean and sanitary and avoid backlog of unwashed items according to district HACCP Plan
- Clear and clean dining area tables and chairs during and after meal service and sweep kitchen preparation area floors
- Move and store Child Nutrition food and supplies
- Observe and assist in areas where help is needed to expedite work
- Cooperate willingly and follow instructions
- Adhere to approved standards of personal hygiene and grooming
- Display cooperative attitude towards co-workers, students, faculty, management and administration
- Perform other related duties as assigned
