Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton is a globally recognized luxury hotel brand renowned for delivering exceptional experiences to guests. With over 100 award-winning properties worldwide, The Ritz-Carlton sets the standard for rare and special luxury service, earning a reputation as a leader in luxury hospitality. As part of Marriott International's prestigious portfolio of brands, The Ritz-Carlton is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment where unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences are valued and celebrated. The culture encourages creativity, thoughtfulness, compassion, and a dedication to excellence in guest care and comfort. Being employed at The Ritz-Carlton means joining a global team that prioritizes safety, quality, professional appearance, and exemplary communication, all while embodying the brand's celebrated Gold Standards such as the Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values.
The role of a Runner at The Ritz-Carlton is far more than a traditional logistical position. A Runner is indispensable to the smooth operation of the hotel, acting as a versatile team member who works across multiple departments including housekeeping, engineering, banquets, restaurants, and the front office. The primary goal for a Runner is to ensure that both guests and associates have what they need precisely when they need it, thereby creating memorable and unique experiences for guests. Whether delivering items directly to guest rooms or supporting operational needs behind the scenes, Runners are constantly on the move, contributing to the seamless flow of hotel services. This role demands physical activity such as standing, walking, climbing stairs or service ramps, and maneuvering through confined spaces. Runners must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 55 pounds. They also need to be attentive to detail, reading and visually verifying information, inspecting equipment, and taking a proactive, hands-on approach to their responsibilities.
Critical to success in this position are adherence to company policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, upholding the highest quality standards, and presenting a professional appearance at all times. A Runner’s work environment is dynamic, requiring both physical stamina and a commitment to safety. This role does not require previous related experience or supervisory history, making it an excellent entry point into the hospitality industry for individuals who value teamwork, guest satisfaction, and learning opportunities. The Ritz-Carlton offers its Runners a chance to be part of a world-class luxury brand where personal and professional growth is encouraged. The company is dedicated to equal opportunity employment, ensuring that all associates have access to opportunity without discrimination on any protected basis including disability or veteran status. Joining The Ritz-Carlton means beginning a purposeful career within a supportive and prestigious community where excellence is recognized and rewarded.
