The General Manager role at Applegreen is a pivotal position within our Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) operations. This role involves managing the day-to-day business functions of a food and beverage concept located within a travel plaza situated on a major highway. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's performance, including financial outcomes, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the adherence to brand and food safety standards. This position requires strong leadership skills to build and guide a motivated team dedicated to surpassing sales and service goals.

The General Manager will lead associates and managers in delivering excellent service with a focus on speed of service, quality, and safety. Additionally, maintaining operating budgets, controlling inventory, managing food and labor costs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards are essential components of this role. Cultivating an engaging workplace environment that promotes development, learning, and recognition is highly valued.

Key responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring, and retaining a capable team while managing human resource processes like coaching, training, disciplinary actions, and promotions. The General Manager will enforce cash handling procedures, resolve customer issues promptly and professionally, and collaborate with various internal partners such as Human Resources, Loss Prevention, Finance, Facilities, and external vendors and community stakeholders. This multifaceted leadership role demands a high degree of organizational and communication skills, a proactive problem-solving approach, and an unwavering dedication to fostering positive customer and employee experiences.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education development (GED) equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience as a supervisor or unit-level manager in a quick service restaurant
  • Available to work a flexible on-site schedule approximately 50 hours per week including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
  • frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 20 pounds
  • Occasionally attend meetings or travel to support other locations

Job Qualifications

  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth while improving customer and associate satisfaction
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Uses judgment and discretion to resolve less routine questions and problems
  • Ability to operate in and lead a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • ServSafe Certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of associates and managers within the QSR to achieve or exceed targeted objectives around sales, speed of service, customer satisfaction, brand standards, and food quality and safety standards
  • Maintain operating budgets, inventory controls, food and labor costs, gross profit, and reporting
  • Ensure the QSR consistently meets or exceeds brand standards and food safety requirements
  • Foster an engaging work culture of learning, development, and recognition
  • Consistently recruit, develop, and retain a strong team to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Responsible for the hiring, coaching, training, promotion, disciplinary action, termination, or transfer of the QSR team
  • Monitor and enforce cash handling policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures along with local, state, and federal laws
  • Address customer needs and resolve issues and complaints in a professional and timely manner, ensuring positive and long-term customer relationships
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of support partners such as Brand Partners, Human Resources, Loss Prevention, Finance, and Facilities and Maintenance
  • Maintain seamless, cooperative relationships with business partners, vendors, and the communities
