Effective management of labor, payroll, expenses, merchandising, inventory, and daily store operations is essential to meet brand and safety standards. As a community leader, you will represent Petco through local events, adoption initiatives, and partnerships that strengthen the company's impact and presence.
This role requires a hands-on approach within a retail Pet Care Center environment, with regular presence on the sales floor to lead by example and engage directly with customers, partners, and pets. The work includes standing, walking, and occasional physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as interacting safely with animals and cleaning chemicals. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is needed to support Petco's operating hours. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 3+ years of management experience (retail leadership preferred)
- Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development skills
- Ability to analyze financial and operational data
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Genuine passion for pets and customer service
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to engage with customers and work around animals
- Eligibility for full-time employment
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of management experience (retail leadership preferred)
