Renowned as a top National Park Service concessionaire in the United States, the company excels in providing best-in-class services across a range of client sites. These include luxury communities, hotels, resorts, government and business dining facilities, full-service restaurants, state and national parks, outdoor recreation venues, boathouses, marinas, museums, conference centers, senior living communities, health care systems, school and university dining facilities, and specialty retail stores. Guest Services, Inc. has established itself as a trusted leader in hospitality management through a steadfast commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
The General Manager position at Lake Guntersville State Park offers a full-time opportunity with a competitive annual salary of $65,000. This role is vital to the successful operation of the park's recreational facilities, including dock maintenance, boat slips, equipment rentals, and general property upkeep. The General Manager leads the management team and oversees all staff to ensure high performance and exceptional customer service.
In this leadership capacity, the General Manager develops operational plans, forecasts sales and labor needs, and manages budgets to align with financial goals and company initiatives. Responsibilities also encompass scheduling and supervising both management and staff, maintaining accounting and cash control records, and managing profit and loss statements. The role requires a strong focus on customer relations, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints to maintain satisfaction and enhance the company’s reputation.
Safety and facility maintenance are critical components of the position, requiring the General Manager to ensure the entire facility remains safe, well-maintained, and compliant with company standards. This includes the management of dock and grounds maintenance, creation and implementation of preventive maintenance programs, and oversight of risk management practices. The position requires a proactive approach in identifying safety issues and communicating them promptly to higher management.
Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree and have 3 to 5 years of management experience, preferably within boating or marine-related environments. Practical skills include the ability to swim, CPR/First Aid certification, and proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and team members. The General Manager must be organized, able to multitask, solve problems efficiently, and maintain confidentiality.
Physically, the role demands a high level of mobility and stamina, including the ability to move about on foot, lift and carry substantial weight, and endure outdoor weather conditions. Effective verbal and written English communication is required, as well as the capacity to interact clearly with customers and coworkers in a dynamic work environment.
Guest Services, Inc. prides itself on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within its workforce. The company emphasizes an inclusive workplace where employees can bring their whole selves to work, enhancing their ability to serve a diverse customer base with excellence and professionalism. This commitment reinforces the company’s values and contributes to a supportive and engaging work atmosphere.
Overall, the General Manager role at Lake Guntersville State Park is a rewarding career opportunity for a dedicated, experienced professional who is passionate about recreation management and delivering exceptional service within a vibrant natural setting.
