Job Description
S3, Inc. is a well-established and rapidly diversifying company founded in 1991 and headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama. The company specializes in providing technical, programmatic, and logistic services primarily to the U.S. Department of War (DOW), other U.S. government agencies, and partner nations. S3, Inc. prides itself on its dedicated workforce, with 80 percent of its staff being veterans, reflecting its commitment to supporting those who have served the nation. The company operates under stringent quality standards, including ISO 9001/AS9100 certifications, is CMMC Level 2 certified, and holds clearances for federal contract execution with the Department of War. Over the years, S3 has expanded its operations through wholly-owned divisions and subsidiaries that enhance its service offerings and customer base. These include the Agile Engineering Division (AED), which supports weapon system acquisition programs across FIRES, Air, and Aviation domains; KBFS, which focuses on aviation pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and related airfield operations compliant with FAA certifications; GLSS, delivering aviation maintenance contracts; S3I, offering overseas foreign military sales technical services; and S3 Arabia (S3A), which operates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia providing similar services. The company is currently growing and aims to expand its workforce to nearly 1,000 employees, emphasizing corporate operations to sustain and enhance contract growth. S3, Inc. offers above industry-standard benefits and fosters a mission-focused leadership culture, encouraging team members to build rewarding and lasting careers with the organization.
The position available is for a General Manager (GM) for KBFS, operating out of their Huntsville, AL home office with frequent travel to KBFS operational sites in Geneva, AL; Crestview, FL; and Temple, TX. This role demands extensive industry management experience in commercial airfield profit and loss (P&L) operations encompassing pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and airfield operations. The GM will be responsible for operational risk and financial management, ensuring a seasoned leadership approach for the commercial airfield functions. While military experience with fixed wing and rotary aircraft is beneficial, the role requires strong hands-on knowledge of commercial airfield practices and is not open to teleworking. The GM is expected to provide strategic leadership, ensuring operational controls, staffing, and reporting systems are in place to execute business missions efficiently and effectively. Key responsibilities include growing the organization, ensuring profitability, and maintaining a strong operational culture focused on safety and ethics across KBFS sites. The GM will develop and execute a five-year business plan integrating government and commercial program management. As a senior member of the S3 Corporation’s management team, this role requires active engagement in business development, marketing, financial oversight, employee management, customer relations, and constant communication with stakeholders to expand business opportunities and maintain comprehensive responsiveness to customer needs. The role demands substantial travel - approximately 40 percent - to various field operation sites to provide hands-on supervision and strategic direction. This role offers an exciting leadership opportunity for candidates with a robust background in commercial and military aviation operations, federal contract management, and business expansion within a mission-driven and growth-oriented environment.
