The position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, meaning it demands leadership, strategic decision-making, and versatility with scheduling to cover opening, peak, and closing shifts.

Job Requirements

  • Documented and demonstrated skills managing QSR, Casual Dine, Full Service or similar restaurants
  • minimum 3 years restaurant P&L management experience
  • overall 5-7 years restaurant experience
  • graduation from Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for experience
  • team management, delegation and issue resolution skills
  • ability to manage multiple priorities
  • knowledge of HMSHost policies and standards or willingness to learn
  • ability to read, comprehend instructions, understand menus and converse comfortably

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years documented restaurant P&L management experience at the assigned type of restaurant
  • overall 5-7 years working restaurant experience
  • graduation from Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience
  • demonstrated team management and delegation skills
  • knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operation standards or ability to learn quickly
  • ability to read, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively

Job Duties

  • Ensures all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing and opening restaurant checklists
  • deploys staff and resources to maximize profitability within the restaurant and accepts P&L responsibility
  • assigns work tasks and prepares schedules ensuring all shifts are covered
  • provides consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to staff to achieve business goals
  • interviews job candidates and makes hiring, termination, and promotion decisions
  • ensures onboarding and offboarding activities comply with training and badging requirements
  • reads and understands financial and operational reports to monitor progress towards goals
  • recognizes and motivates employees through company recognition initiatives
  • accepts and champions all employee engagement behaviors
  • ensures product availability and proper order preparation
  • oversees receiving goods and handles vendor relations
  • maintains proficiency in management systems and programs
  • monitors and maintains restaurant equipment and schedules maintenance
  • participates in company audits and food donation programs
  • assesses skill levels of associates and coordinates training
  • embraces and promotes new technologies
  • maintains knowledge of brand standards and landlord agreements
  • develops strategies to increase revenue
  • manages daily activities within restaurants or points-of-sale
