Job Description

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. has been a beloved and trusted name in the pet care industry for over 60 years. Operating more than 1,500 retail stores across the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, along with 250+ Vetco Total Care hospitals and an array of preventive care clinics, Petco is where pets and pet parents alike find everything they need to ensure animals live their best lives. Petco's mission centers on fostering the pet-human bond and providing expert support, superior products, and services that celebrate the journey of pet parenthood. With more than 29,000 partners, Petco is dedicated to quality animal care and community engagement, through in-store adoption events and partnerships supporting animal welfare organizations.

The company embodies its core values through the principles of "Pet First," "Foster the Fun," and "Let’s Go!" which emphasize protecting and empowering pets, igniting passion and connection within teams and customers, and demonstrating commitment to excellence and integrity. This commitment is reflected in a culture that values authenticity, inclusion, and teamwork while offering meaningful career paths and development opportunities to its employees.

This role is for a full-time General Manager position at the Pet Care Center located in Roseville, CA. As General Manager, you are responsible for leading a high-performing team focused on animal welfare, customer satisfaction, and business success. You will own and operate the Pet Care Center business by driving sales growth, managing operational excellence, and maintaining the highest standards for pet care and safety. This position demands a leader who combines passion for pets and people with strong business acumen, talent development skills, and a commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for pets, pet parents, and your team.

In this position, you will oversee all aspects of the store’s operations, including people leadership, financial performance, operational processes, and community engagement initiatives such as local events and adoption efforts. Your leadership will ensure that all Petco standards and policies regarding animal care are met consistently, and that the store delivers an exceptional customer experience. The role also encompasses fostering a positive workplace culture by building and coaching an inclusive and energized team, committed to Petco’s brand and values. You will be expected to manage budgets, labor costs, inventory, merchandising, and loss prevention measures effectively to ensure the store meets or exceeds sales and profitability targets.

Your day-to-day work involves hands-on interaction with customers, partners, and pets, requiring you to be visible and actively engaged on the sales floor. The physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely, with occasional tasks outside the center such as attending community events. The position requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of the Pet Care Center. Additionally, career growth is supported through Petco's leadership development programs.

The hourly pay range for this position is $17.25 to $23.75, with exact compensation influenced by experience, location, and applicable wage laws. Petco offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes health and financial benefits, 401K plans, incentives, and paid time off.

Join Petco to make a real difference in animals' lives, work with passionate teams, and develop your leadership skills in an inclusive environment where your contributions truly matter.
