This particular opening is for a full-time General Manager position located at the Pet Care Center on 13925 South Virginia Street, Reno, NV. This role is not remote and requires on-site presence to lead the Pet Care Center’s daily operations. The General Manager will be a key leader responsible for the overall health of the business, including managing people, driving sales and profitability, and ensuring exceptional animal care and customer experience. The General Manager will own the business, combining strategic leadership with hands-on involvement. They will champion the health, safety, and humane care of all animals, setting the standard for animal welfare and customer service within the center. Leadership also involves creating a welcoming and supportive environment for pets, pet parents, and staff alike, ensuring that everyone feels valued and empowered to participate in the store’s success.
In addition to high standards of animal care and customer service, this leader will foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture promoting engagement, continuous learning, and growth opportunities. The position demands strong business acumen to analyze financial results and operational metrics, making data-driven decisions to improve performance and growth. Operational excellence, including loss prevention, inventory control, and adherence to safety and security protocols, is vital to maintaining a high-functioning, safe retail environment.
This role requires a hands-on leader who will be regularly present on the sales floor, modeling desired behaviors and actively engaging with partners, customers, and pets. The General Manager’s leadership style should emphasize integrity, transparency, inclusivity, and accountability while fostering a fun, meaningful workplace.
Working in this role involves frequent physical activity such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, interacting with animals, and managing various operational duties. Flexibility in schedule is necessary to cover nights, weekends, and holidays to fully support the Pet Care Center’s operating hours.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 3+ years of management experience
- Strong people leadership skills
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Flexible and able to work in a retail environment with animals
- Must be regularly present on the sales floor
- Full-time availability
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 3+ years of management experience, retail leadership preferred
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development skills
- Solid business, financial, and operational acumen
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- A genuine passion for pets and customer service
- Completion of Petco leadership development programs may be required for internal candidates
