Job Description
Ragnar began as an innovative idea to conduct a continuous 24-hour relay race through the scenic mountains of Utah and has since evolved into one of the most recognized endurance event series globally. Known for its unforgettable races set in iconic and breathtaking locations, Ragnar has fostered a passionate and loyal community, some of whom have even tattooed the brand on their bodies as a testament to their dedication. This unique community experience has made Ragnar an event people eagerly return to year after year, cementing its reputation in the endurance and sporting world.
Ragnar operates under FitLab, a company that serves as the home for Sport Lifestyle. FitLab is dedicated to athletes and fitness enthusiasts who view fitness and wellness as an integral part of their identity rather than a mere obligation. Situated at the intersection of functional training and immersive experiences, FitLab offers high-performance products, community-driven experiences, and premium brands that encourage deeper engagement beyond just routine workouts. The Events division, led by the General Manager, is the foundation of FitLab's operations, with Ragnar being its primary business today.
The role of General Manager, Events is a critical leadership position within FitLab. This role involves helming the Events division, ensuring that the delivery of events like Ragnar remains safe, exceptional, and consistent. The General Manager works closely with FitLab’s leadership to align resources, priorities, and long-term vision while managing day-to-day execution across the division. This leadership position requires someone who can skillfully balance both strategic thinking and operational detail management. The ideal candidate is expected to build scalable models for growth, improve financial performance at the event level, and innovate by developing new event formats and immersive experiences that resonate with the fitness and endurance community.
The General Manager will also be instrumental in developing and growing strategic partnerships and sponsorships that elevate the overall event experience and enhance the economic viability of each event. Leading and building a high-performing team across both corporate and field operations will be a key part of the responsibilities. This role demands a strong culture of accountability, execution focus, and data-driven continuous improvement. It also requires a proactive approach in identifying risks and implementing robust solutions to safeguard event success. In essence, the General Manager acts as the central leader for all events within FitLab, playing a vital role in shaping the future of endurance and fitness events and ensuring the company’s growth and innovation in this highly competitive space.
