Job Description
Marriott International is a global leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and exceptional guest experiences. As a respected multinational hospitality company, Marriott operates thousands of hotels and resorts worldwide, offering a diverse portfolio of brands catered to various market segments and traveler needs. Marriott International’s dedication to excellence, its strong corporate culture, and its ability to adapt to evolving market dynamics position it as a preferred employer and trusted partner in the hospitality sector.
The Autograph Collection is a distinguished segment within Marriott International, comprising a curated selection of independent four- and five-star hotels. Each hotel within the Autograph Collection is chosen for its unique character, originality, and ability to deliver memorable experiences. This collection targets the discerning traveler, known as The Individualist, who seeks more than just a place to stay—these guests desire distinct and authentic experiences that add value to their personal and professional journeys.
The role of General Manager within the Autograph Collection is a vital leadership position that commands full responsibility for the operational success of the property. This leadership role encompasses comprehensive oversight of guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, sales, revenue management, and human resources. The General Manager acts as the key strategic business leader and is charged with delivering a strong return on investment to both Marriott International and property owners.
This position requires a seasoned professional capable of executing and aligning local property initiatives with the global strategic vision of Marriott International. The General Manager oversees property leadership teams, guiding their professional development and ensuring accountability for achieving business objectives. The role involves proactive sales efforts, leveraging revenue streams, and engaging with marketing strategies that enhance the property’s market share and profitability.
The General Manager also emphasizes strong community engagement, fostering relationships with local officials, business leaders, and customers to promote the brand and the property’s presence. Furthermore, this role ensures the property complies with Marriott’s brand policies, safety standards, operational procedures, and legal requirements, maintaining a high level of quality, safety, and service excellence.
A key aspect of this leadership role involves talent management, where the General Manager builds and nurtures a high-performing executive team and supports their continuous development. This involves creating succession plans, coaching leaders, and cultivating a work environment that encourages open communication and employee engagement.
The General Manager’s responsibilities extend to detailed business information analysis, including monitoring market trends, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction metrics. This data-driven approach supports strategic decision-making to enhance the property’s competitive positioning.
Working in the hospitality industry with Marriott International as part of the Autograph Collection offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a world-class brand dedicated to individual expression and excellence. This role is ideal for a dynamic, strategic thinker with extensive operational and leadership experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and driving business success.
