The role of General Manager (GM) at Marriott's MSB property represents a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all facets of the hotel's day-to-day operations, financial success, guest satisfaction, and team management. As the primary strategic business leader, the GM ensures that property operations align with Marriott's brand strategies while striving to exceed guest expectations. In this role, the GM is charged with developing and executing business plans that enhance the property's market share and profitability. The GM monitors current industry trends and competitive landscapes to adapt strategies accordingly. Managing budgets, controlling costs, and analyzing financial and non-financial data are key functions of the position, all aimed at maximizing revenue while maintaining high standards of guest service. The General Manager actively leads various property-wide initiatives, including capital improvement projects, service programs, and sales and marketing efforts.
A significant part of the GM’s responsibilities includes managing human resources activities such as employee development, performance reviews, succession planning, and communication to ensure a motivated and skilled workforce. The GM is also involved in fostering relationships with property stakeholders, including owners, regional leadership, and local community members, to maintain transparency and promote business growth.
Sales and marketing strategies under the GM’s leadership focus on leveraging Marriott’s global sales engines supplemented by independent initiatives to capture new business opportunities and enhance revenue streams. The GM collaborates with the Regional Sales Office and sales teams to implement effective strategies that resonate with the property's unique strengths and brand identity.
The position requires a proactive leader who can navigate operational challenges, inspire teams, and maintain strong connections with the local community and Marriott’s extended leadership. The GM’s role is pivotal in crafting an exceptional guest experience while ensuring the property meets financial and operational objectives.
Employment type typically includes full-time positions within Marriott International's management structure, with competitive salary packages and benefits reflecting the industry standards.
