Known for its inclusive atmosphere and commitment to creating a safe, welcoming environment, ASC operates as a social club that fosters community care and equity through diverse programming and member-centered services. The club stands as a hub for social gatherings, nightlife, and cultural events aimed at promoting belonging, dignity, and open communication within the LGBTQ+ community. As a nonprofit organization, ASC emphasizes transparency and accountability in all its operations, ensuring its policies and decision-making processes are fair, documented, and accessible to all stakeholders involved.
The General Manager (GM) position at ASC is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This full-time, exempt role reports directly to the Board of Directors through a non-voting Board representative and plays a crucial part in bridging communication between staff and the Board. The GM is entrusted with not only managing staff recruitment, training, and performance but also driving a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with ASC's core values of inclusivity, respect, transparency, accountability, community care, and equity.
The General Manager leads the operational management of the club, ensuring all opening and closing procedures are executed flawlessly and that the bar environment meets or exceeds expectations in cleanliness, ambiance, and service quality, including speed, friendliness, accuracy, and consistency. Financial oversight responsibilities include managing budgets, optimizing revenue, controlling costs, and generating detailed financial reports. The GM is also tasked with supervising inventory and supply chain management, including ordering and loss prevention efforts.
Customer service excellence is central to the GM's role, who handles escalated guest complaints and continuously strives to enhance member satisfaction and loyalty through innovative programs and engagement strategies. Collaboration with the Board of Directors is a key aspect of this position, encompassing marketing, event management, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. The General Manager ensures compliance with all applicable liquor laws, health regulations, OSHA standards, city and state licensing rules, and employment laws. They are required to maintain all necessary certifications such as alcohol server training and to provide ongoing staff education focusing on safety, emergency procedures, and workplace standards.
The role demands someone with at least three years of supervisory or management experience in hospitality, nonprofit, or nightlife/event settings, who possesses strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A firm commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity, and harm reduction principles is essential. Preferred candidates will have experience in queer or community-based spaces, a basic understanding of safety codes and public safety requirements, and background in event production and conflict mediation. This position requires evening, weekend, and holiday availability and is compensated with a salary range of $45,000 to $60,000 annually. Benefits include 401(k), dental, health, and vision insurance, along with paid time off. This is an in-person role based at ASC's central Albuquerque location.
