Petco is currently hiring a Full-Time General Manager for their Pet Care Center located at 8640 Pulaski Hwy, Suite 104, Baltimore, MD. This role is designed for a passionate leader who is driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on pets’ lives every day while managing a thriving retail environment. The General Manager is the owner of the Pet Care Center's business results, from people leadership to operational excellence. This includes ensuring the safety and well-being of animals, crafting a welcoming environment for pets and their parents, motivating and developing a diverse team, and meeting or exceeding sales and profitability goals. Salary for this position ranges approximately from $42,000 to $77,500 annually, varying based on location, experience, and other factors.

The General Manager position at Petco is More than a management role; it embodies responsibility for balancing superior animal care with exceptional customer service and sound business practices. Strong leadership is essential as this role involves building a robust leadership bench, coaching partners for continuous growth, and nurturing a culture of teamwork and inclusion. The logistical demands include regular indoor work with some physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional community involvement outside the Pet Care Center.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Completion of Petco leadership development programs may be required for internal candidates
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Retail leadership preferred
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development skills

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities

  • Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Eligibility for full-time status based on average hours worked
