The role of General Manager at The Hotel Ivy is a highly responsible and dynamic position that requires overseeing and directing all operational and financial aspects of the hotel. This full-time, on-site leadership position is crucial in safeguarding the asset, establishing and nurturing a customer-centric culture that aligns with the HEI Hotels and Resorts brand values. The General Manager leads by example, inspiring team members to consistently deliver exceptional service and maintain high product quality. This position involves a broad scope of responsibilities including daily property inspections for upkeep and quality control, guiding human resources initiatives related to associate relations, hiring and training, and developing management performance plans. The General Manager also actively participates in sales, marketing, and revenue management, contributing to business development and client engagement.

Moreover, the role demands effective participation in corporate meetings, community affairs, and various internal committees such as Research, Development, and Standards to ensure the hotel maintains its prestigious status and competitive edge. Financial stewardship is paramount, with expectations to create and execute budget forecasts and financial objectives, ensuring profitable operations. This role requires adept adaptability in communication across various audiences, from associates and clients to corporate stakeholders. The successful candidate will bring at least five years of comprehensive management experience, particularly in rooms and food and beverage operations, combined with a deep understanding of hospitality law, security, labor relations, and quality assurance processes. Job Requirements

  • Must have minimum 5 years of management experience preferably in rooms and food and beverage
  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, safety programs, labor relations, business planning, repairs, and budget forecasting
  • Ability to stand and move throughout hotel property continuously
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience preferably in both rooms and food and beverage operations
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business plan preparation, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property continuously performing essential job functions with or without accommodation

Job Duties

  • Create and maintain a customer-driven hotel with a customer-keeping vision that inspires hotel associates
  • Oversee quality processes to ensure customer satisfaction through consistent delivery of product quality and service
  • Tour and visually inspect property daily to monitor condition, cleanliness, cost control, and quality
  • Travel to corporate meetings, sales trips, and serve on committees like Research, Development and Standards
  • Aid Human Resources with associate issues following company policies
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide communication, and recommend discipline or termination
  • Develop and delegate improvement plans for operations and review management team performance
  • Participate in community affairs and maintain a positive public image
  • Meet with clients to promote the hotel
  • Engage actively in Sales and Revenue Management by following HEI Key Meeting SOPs, group site inspections, and review results from measurement tools
  • Guide Executive Committee, Management, and staff in business decision-making
  • Create and execute financial objectives of the hotel
  • Comply with attendance rules and perform other job-related duties as assigned
