Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, established in 2001 and designed by renowned golf course architect Jim White, is a prestigious private golf facility situated in Lincoln. This 7,100-yard, par-71 golf course is celebrated for its unique water features and impeccably maintained bent grass greens, attracting golf enthusiasts and professionals alike. Over the years, Wilderness Ridge has played host to numerous distinguished championships such as the U.S. Open Qualifier, Nebraska Section PGA Championship, Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship, and several notable college championships. The club not only offers a superior golfing experience but also provides elegant dining options through its two restaurants. The position available is a full-time, salaried, exempt role centered on managing the overall operations and fiscal performance of Wilderness Ridge Golf Club. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures while developing and executing strategies related to service, fiscal management, operations, marketing, and business development. The role calls for strong leadership skills to set and uphold service and operational standards across all departments and employees of the club.

Key responsibilities for this role include fostering effective communication with members and clients about the club and ongoing improvements, implementing guest and member service training programs to deliver a "Best in Class" experience, and supervising full and part-time staff including the course superintendent, Director of Golf, sales team, food and beverage, accounting, and human resources. A critical part of the job involves monitoring financial performance against budget goals, analyzing variances, and implementing necessary action plans to keep operations financially sound. Coordination with the home office for accounting and payroll is essential, as is directing the development and monitoring of annual business plans and capital budgets.

The General Manager is expected to develop and communicate recommendations for operating guidelines and capital projects to senior management and ownership. Leadership is also required in maintaining excellence in all facets of club operations such as golf, food and beverage, agronomics, marketing, and training while ensuring productivity efficiencies and budget compliance. Approving financial expenditures and transactions relative to operations and facilities, ensuring the highest quality of customer service throughout all departments, and promoting positive employee morale are critical elements of the role. Job Requirements

  • College degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years applicable private club premium daily fee and or resort management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of member service budget development fiscal management strategic planning staff management
  • Significant knowledge and experience in fine dining and banquet operations
  • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Work flexible hours as required including evenings weekends
  • Positive attitude professional manner and appearance in all situations

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and facilitate effective communication with clients with regards to Wilderness Ridge as well as the improvements being implemented throughout the entire facility
  • Implement proven guest service and member service training programs True Service designed to achieve Best in Class experience
  • Supervise full and part-time staff members
  • Oversee and direct course superintendent Director of Golf sales staff food and beverage director accounting and human resources
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives
  • Analyze budget variances and develop and implement action plans to achieve appropriate adjustments
  • Coordinate accounting operations with home office including the organization of appropriate expense invoices and payroll records
  • Direct coordinate and monitor the development of the facility’s annual business plan and operating capital budgets
  • Develop and communicate recommendations and plans for operating guidelines and capital projects with KemperSports senior management and ownership
  • Maintain and monitor a successful club operation which encompasses golf food and beverage agronomics marketing and training
  • Analyze and evaluate operations to determine productivity efficiencies vs budgeted standards
  • Review and approve financial expenditures and transactions relative to operations services and facilities equipment within and according to established guidelines and procedures
  • Insure the quality of customer service activities in all departments
  • Formulate general plans and oversee their implementation towards achieving member service excellence
  • Provide appropriate leadership direction supervision and guidance to staff in accord with company culture and mission statement to promote positive employee morale and performance quality
