Job Description
This job opening is for the position of General Manager at a franchise-owned McDonald's restaurant. McDonald's is a global fast-food restaurant chain renowned for its quick service, consistent quality, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. The franchise-operated restaurant upholds the McDonald's brand standards and delivers a distinctive dining experience to its customers. The General Manager role here is a critical leadership position tasked with managing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring that every guest has a positive experience, and driving business success through strong leadership and operational excellence.
As the General Manager, you can expect to lead a dedicated team at a high-volume restaurant location. This position involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, establishing performance objectives, and maintaining the highest standards in quality, service, and cleanliness. You are responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring department and shift managers, cultivating a workplace culture focused on accountability, growth, and recognition. The General Manager is the primary point of contact for aligning restaurant goals with area supervisors and ensures compliance with safety and brand guidelines. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and have prior experience in multi-unit leadership, retail, hospitality, or quick-service restaurants, this role offers a remarkable opportunity to take charge of a thriving business and contribute to its growth.
The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $70,000 per year. Candidates without Hamburger University (HU) certification will begin at the starting salary of $50,000. However, if enrolled or certified through Hamburger University — McDonald's prestigious leadership training program located in Chicago — the salary range increases to between $53,000 and $70,000. This program offers tuition and travel fully paid by the organization and is designed to advance career opportunities and enhance leadership skills. Additionally, the position includes a monthly performance-based bonus program, providing an added incentive for achieving business objectives and performing at a high level.
The role provides an excellent pathway for career advancement, particularly through learning and development programs offered by McDonald's, such as Hamburger University. This training emphasizes leadership excellence, operational management, and strategic business skills, preparing you to manage multiple units or move into higher corporate positions over time. The supportive environment is ideal for experienced managers looking to leverage their skills or those ready to embrace the responsibilities of managing one of the world’s most recognized restaurant brands at the local level.
