Job Description
Firehouse Subs is a well-established fast casual restaurant chain that originated in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994. Founded by brothers Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, both former firefighters, the brand combines a passion for hearty, flavorful food with heartfelt service and a commitment to public safety. Over the past two decades, Firehouse Subs has expanded rapidly and now boasts over 1000 locations across 40 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Known for its signature steamed hot subs filled with premium meats and cheeses, served on toasted rolls with fresh produce, the company creates a unique dining experience that celebrates firefighting history and honors the founders' firefighting legacy. This firefighter-themed atmosphere fosters a family-friendly environment that resonates with guests, emphasizing community involvement and charitable giving. Firehouse Subs has contributed more than $20 million to public safety organizations through its Public Safety Foundation, showcasing its dedication to giving back to communities it serves.
As a General Manager at Firehouse Subs, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all operational aspects of the restaurant to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable daily business performance. This position requires leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills to manage staff, maintain high standards of customer service, and adhere to all legal and company policies. Your leadership will be critical in guaranteeing that the restaurant complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including health standards, labor laws, and safety protocols. You will be responsible for fostering a positive work environment that embodies the Firehouse Subs culture—marked by cheerfulness, teamwork, and passion for excellent food and outstanding customer service.
The General Manager must ensure the restaurant operates within budget by closely monitoring food costs, labor, utilities, and controllable expenses to maximize profitability. You will implement current company initiatives and operational plans timely and effectively, while also training and developing your management team, including Assistant Managers and Shift Managers. In addition to staffing and team development, the role involves engaging in local restaurant marketing and community outreach to boost sales and enhance public relations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring all necessary reports and legal documents are prepared and submitted on schedule. Representing Firehouse Subs professionally and positively, you will communicate effectively with franchise owners and address issues that impact business operations. Additionally, you will monitor equipment maintenance to ensure all restaurant tools and machinery function properly, escalating problems when needed.
Firehouse Subs promotes a healthy and positive work environment and looks to hire people with excellent attitudes and work ethics. This role offers competitive wages ranging from $15 to $17.25 an hour, supplemented by bonuses, cell phone reimbursement, and regular pay raises every six months. The General Manager position provides opportunities for professional growth, flexible scheduling, meal discounts, uniforms, and more. Firehouse Subs guarantees no late hours and a clean, safe work environment, making it a desirable place for career-oriented individuals passionate about leadership in the restaurant industry. Take the opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a well-known, widely respected brand that values community involvement and quality service, and apply today to become part of the Firehouse Subs family.
