Known for excellence in hospitality management, MCR operates hotels under prestigious brands such as Marriott and Hilton and has received multiple industry accolades including being named one of Fast Company's 10 Most Innovative Travel Companies of 2020 and winning the Hilton Legacy Award for Top Performer.

The General Manager role at Home2 Suites by Hilton Tallahassee State Capitol is an executive position that demands leadership in ensuring a superior guest experience focused on cleanliness and friendliness throughout the facility. This role requires the General Manager to actively oversee daily operations, guide management teams, and maintain high standards that align with MCR's brand expectations and quality assurance guidelines. The successful candidate will champion teamwork and uphold MCR’s core values of happy guests, spotless cleanliness, product consistency and quality, and collaboration.

The General Manager is responsible for conducting daily walk-throughs of guest rooms and public spaces to verify adherence to cleanliness and service standards. This includes testing mechanical equipment functionality and ensuring all rooms meet inspection checklists without exception. The role also involves comprehensive onboarding of new team members, reinforcing the importance of friendly service and process adherence right from hire. Operational excellence is maintained through accurate compilation of daily summary and night audit reports, and effective communication is ensured by timely shift handover reports.

The position also plays a key role in safety management, ensuring fire and life safety inspections are up to date and any issues resolved promptly. Operational efficiency is enhanced by monitoring preventative maintenance schedules and managing team schedules diligently to cover all shifts effectively.

Leadership extends to fostering a culture of learning and development. The General Manager initiates and supports staff training in functional expertise, promotes coaching through moment-to-moment feedback, and communicates career advancement opportunities to build a motivated, capable team. Administrative duties include managing time clock reviews, overseeing purchase order and invoice processes, and maintaining inventory storage areas according to approved guidelines.

Strong communication skills are essential since the General Manager serves as the connection point for guests, employees, and corporate leadership, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and operational integrity. The ideal candidate must demonstrate financial literacy to handle budgeting and reporting requirements alongside exhibiting resilience under pressure, conflict resolution abilities, and a positive, can-do attitude. Proficiency with technology including Windows OS and office software is required to facilitate smooth operational management.

Educationally, a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred coupled with prior supervisory experience, ideally within hospitality, hotel, or restaurant industries. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be willing to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Employment with MCR offers numerous benefits such as hotel discounts, weekly pay, paid time off, retirement options, and health, dental, and vision insurance after a 30-day period for full-time employees.
