The role of General Manager at VASA Fitness is a vital leadership position within the Operations department, reporting directly to the District Manager. This exempt, salaried position requires an individual who is engaging, upbeat, diligent, and organized, with a strong ability to drive the club toward achieving operational goals and financial success. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of club operations, including member growth, revenue, employee management, and maintaining an inviting, clean facility that reflects the core values and culture of VASA Fitness. This role demands a take-charge personality with a proven track record of delivering results, managing teams effectively, controlling budgets, and ensuring a high level of member and employee satisfaction.

In this role, the General Manager leads a team of results-driven club leads, including positions such as MEL, PTL, GFSTL, and CCTL. The successful candidate will be hands-on in training, coaching, and developing this leadership team to reach performance goals and uphold company standards. They will also be accountable for driving sales and operational initiatives, controlling labor costs, enforcing company policies, managing retail inventory, and handling escalated member concerns. There is a strong emphasis on fostering a culture of accountability, positivity, and engagement by exemplifying VASA’s 'House of VASA' approach and principles.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Provide consistent accountability for direct reports through training, coaching, conducting planning sessions and performance reviews
  • Recognize good performance and take corrective action when necessary
  • Hold Leads accountable for driving and delivering results
  • Control club labor weekly to meet budget expectations
  • Recruit, interview and hire Leads and participate in final interviews for all club positions
  • Participate in district progression planning and talent review process with peer general managers
  • Develop direct reports by communicating priorities and encouraging the team to achieve results through significant face-time and coaching
  • Provide direction to Leads to deliver on performance goals and implement corporate and district initiatives
  • Monitor club facilities to ensure purpose execution and adherence to company programs and initiatives
  • Offer feedback and direction to Leads and team members
  • Communicate and execute sales and pricing promotions with Leads
  • Resolve escalated member concerns outside the authority of Leads
  • Provide resources and direction to ensure enforcement of company policies and procedures including loss prevention, employment, and HR policies
  • Monitor and control retail inventory within the club to drive REVIVE profitability
  • Provide direction to Leads to develop and execute thorough business plans with recurring performance checkpoints
  • Establish priorities and goals for member acquisition and retention
  • Identify, plan, and execute club improvements
  • Facilitate club meetings to align with company goals and objectives
  • Utilize GM checklist to drive daily deliverables
  • Communicate, lead by example and motivate the team to understand and develop passion toward the brand, values, and strategy (House of VASA)
  • Be consistently visible within the club setting example for member satisfaction and team member engagement
  • Create inspiring environment for Leads to bring House of VASA to life
  • Ensure that VASA values are embedded in club management and personnel
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with district support teams and corporate departments to support company directives and initiatives
  • Coach to drive results
  • Provide feedback and create culture of accountability
