The General Manager position at Caribou Coffee is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial performance and operational excellence of the store. The General Manager ensures that the store runs smoothly by maintaining strong team engagement and cultivating a healthy work culture where clear roles and responsibilities are understood. In this role, the General Manager focuses on several key responsibilities including ensuring that the store is adequately staffed and schedules are managed efficiently to meet customer demand. Developing creative strategies to enhance team member engagement, supporting continuous growth and development, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards are essential. This position also includes leadership in guest services by driving initiatives to improve satisfaction, speed of service, and customer loyalty. Financial management is a critical component of the role; the General Manager oversees budgeting, inventory management, and operational expenses to promote profitability and sustainable growth. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial trends and adjust operations strategically to boost sales and manage costs is required.
Additionally, the role involves managing supply chain processes to ensure timely replenishment of stock and efficient allocation of resources. The General Manager also creates an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere focused on achieving sales goals and operational excellence. Maintaining rigorous standards in food safety, sanitation, and health protocols is a priority. The position requires flexibility in work hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the dynamic needs of the store. Job Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of management experience in restaurant retail or guest services
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Reliable transportation is required
- Ability to work full-time (47 hours per week) including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Willingness to learn new business systems and tools
- Ability to bend, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for 4 to 8 hours during shifts
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage stressful situations professionally
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism
- Flexible schedule to meet store operational needs
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1-2 years of restaurant retail or guest service management experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work full-time including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Willingness to learn new systems and tools
- Preferred ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Experience with sales building, profit and loss statements, recruitment and training
- Knowledge of store systems such as Toast, CrunchTime, and Workday
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Job Duties
- Ensure the store is fully staffed for upcoming shifts including scheduling and bench planning
- Build and maintain a high-performing team through goal setting and accountability
- Execute and monitor team training and onboarding programs
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and recognition to support team development
- Model and uphold company policies and maintain a safe environment
- Lead by example to inspire outstanding guest experiences
