Job Description
Firehouse Subs is a renowned American restaurant chain that has carved a niche for itself by serving hearty and flavorful subs, offering heartfelt service, and championing public safety initiatives. Established in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994 by brothers and former firefighters Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, Firehouse Subs brings a unique blend of firefighting heritage and culinary excellence to each franchise they operate. The brand has grown significantly over the years, fueled by a strong commitment to quality ingredients and community involvement, making it a beloved name among sandwich lovers and community advocates alike.
Firehouse Subs places a strong emphasis on not just delivering exceptional food but also giving back through its non-profit arm, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. This foundation plays a pivotal role in saving lives by funding the purchase of lifesaving equipment donated to first responders and public safety agencies across the nation. With a minimum donation commitment of one million dollars annually from the brand and its suppliers, Firehouse Subs demonstrates its dedication to enhancing public health and safety, which resonates deeply with its mission and brand ethos.
This particular opening is for the position of Restaurant Manager, reporting directly to the Owner or Franchisee. The role is critical, as it holds the manager fully accountable for the profitable operation of the Firehouse Subs Restaurant while adhering strictly to all company guidelines and regulations. This includes compliance with local, state, and federal regulations such as health, wage-hour laws, age restrictions, ADA, OSHA, and more.
As a Restaurant Manager, you will take the helm in ensuring that the restaurant embodies the cheerful and fun culture of Firehouse Subs, while also pushing for standards of superior guest service, food quality, and cleanliness. Leadership in this role involves fostering a positive work environment that aligns with Firehouse Subs' values and mission. You will oversee financial aspects such as food cost, labor control, utilities, and sales growth to ensure the restaurant remains profitable and operates within established guidelines.
This position also requires you to coordinate and implement current company initiatives and operational game plans effectively and timely. Staffing is another critical area of responsibility; as the manager, you will ensure that the restaurant is appropriately staffed with qualified personnel who are properly trained and continuously developed. This development extends to the Assistant Manager and Shift Managers, who rely on your guidance and support.
Community engagement is an integral part of the role. As a Restaurant Manager, you will actively participate in local restaurant marketing efforts and maintain awareness of community affairs to leverage sales and public relations opportunities. This role also demands impeccable organizational skills, requiring you to maintain accurate, complete, and timely reports and legal documentation. Furthermore, you are expected to manage the upkeep of restaurant equipment and communicate any issues to the Owner promptly.
Physically, the job is demanding, requiring you to be on your feet for up to 13 hours and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Compensation for this position ranges from $45,000 to $55,000 annually, reflecting the critical impact and responsibilities the role encompasses.
Importantly, the franchise is independently owned and operated, meaning all hiring decisions and employment inquiries are handled directly by the franchise restaurant management, not the corporate offices. This autonomy underscores the personalized and community-focused nature of each Firehouse Subs location, allowing managers to tailor their leadership style to best serve their local customer base and community needs.
